Aldern Practice is a small studio working on houses, additions, and the occasional shop or studio. Six people, one drafting table too many, and a preference for projects we can visit on foot.

Wren Street House Residential, new build Almara 2024 A narrow infill house on a north-facing lot, organised around a single top-lit stair. Corriemill Barn Adaptive reuse Corriemill 2023 Conversion of a stone hay barn into a two-bedroom home, keeping the original roof structure exposed. Fenwick & Oats Commercial, interiors Almara 2022 Fit-out for a small grocer: oak shelving, a single skylight, and a till counter you can lean on. Dunmore Extension Residential, addition Dunmore 2021 A brick-and-timber addition that turns a dark 1970s kitchen into the brightest room in the house.

Studio

Aldern Practice was started in 2016 by two architects who were tired of drawing buildings they wouldn't want to live in. We're still small on purpose — every project gets both of us at the table, from the first sketch to the last coat of paint.
